Week 4

Thank you

Thank you for all the parents who were able to attend the Parent Information Evening last week. It was a great turn out and we hope you found it informative. It was great to meet you all.

Australia Day

The students enjoyed the Australia Day dress up Day. They looked fantastic and raised just over $1400 dollars which will go to help those affected by the recent bush fires.

Week 4

This week we are revising the letters g, l, o, b. We are working on saying the sounds and blending them together to read simple words like bat, lot, log. The sight words we are reading are; like, to, go, mum and dad.

Speaking and Listening Task

This week the students will also be presenting a short oral presentation about what makes them special. We have sent home a sheet for the students to draw (and parents to write) 3 facts that make them special. The students will be marked on their presentation. We are looking at the way they speak, volume, pace and body language as well as the content they are presenting. We look forward to hearing from all the students.

Reminders

Our library day is Monday, please ensure students bring in their library bag and book each Monday.

Monday 2nd of June (Week 5) is the WA Labour Day public holiday. There is no school on this day.

Monday 10 February 2020

Welcome to 2020

Welcome

Hello and welcome to Room 5's blog for 2020. This blog will be a place where parents/carers can log on to see what is happening in Room 5. We will post photos of the students involved in different activities, keep you updated about upcoming events and let you know what we will be focusing on in the classroom.
We would like to welcome all the students and parents to Pre-Primary, and a special welcome to all our new students and families. We look forward to working with the parents and getting to know your children better throughout the year.
It has been a busy start to the year and the students have done well adjusting to full-time school, especially considering some of the extremely hot days we have been experiencing. To ensure your child gets the most out of each school day, please make sure they are getting plenty of sleep each night. Children this age still need between 10-12 hours of sleep to be able to function.

We look forward to working with you and your children this year. Please do not hesitate to arrange a meeting if there is anything you need to discuss regarding your child.
Parent Information Session

On Tuesday 18th February at 4.45pm, we will be conducting the Parent Information Session. We encourage all parents to attend the session, as it provides valuable information regarding your child’s year in Pre-primary. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions. We would like to remind you that this is a child-free event.

School App

If you haven't already done so, download the Wattle Grove Primary School App. It allows you to notify the school if your child is absent, order from the canteen, keep up to date about coming events and receive the school newsletter.
The App is available for Apple as well as Android phones.

Canteen

The canteen operates on a Wednesday and Thursday. Orders can be placed online, via the School App, or by writing it on a lunch order bag, available from the classroom. Students can order for recess and lunch (if you are ordering using the lunch bags, you need to write recess and lunch orders on separate bags). Pre-Primary students are allowed to order icy poles and ice creams.
Library

Our Library day is every Monday afternoon. Students are allowed to borrow one book at a time. Students must have a library bag to be able to borrow books and books must be returned before they can take another book. Library bags and books need to be put in the Library box.

Aussie Day Dress Up
On Friday 14th February, students are allowed to come to school dressed in Australia Day clothes. Students are not allowed to wear thongs. All students are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation, as we are raising money for the Australian bushfire victims. Our School Motto is Give to Receive and I'm sure that as a community, we will raise lots of money to show our support.
