Term 4 - The end is near!

From Miss Baines

Welcome to back to Term 4 - our last term as Pre Primaries!
The year has gone by so quickly and it is amazing to see how much the children have all changed since the first day of Pre Primary. As this is a reporting term, we will be doing a lot of revision and assessment. If your child needs help in any area, I will send home some extra work to practice. So please keep an eye on their homework folder.
This term, we will start transitioning the students to make the change to Year One as smooth as possible. This will involve letting the students go on messages around the school, play in the area outside the early childhood area and spend some time in the current Year One classrooms. The students will be fully supervised at all times.
With swimming lessons, dance lessons and reports we will have another busy term, so please make sure  your child is getting plenty of sleep each night to help them cope.

Thank you for all your support.

K/PP Tabloid Day

On Wednesday 3rd October, the Kindy and Pre-Primary students were involved in their Tabloid events. The day was fantastic and the weather held off. It was great to see so many parents coming to watch. Well done to all the Year 6 students who helped on the day. A big congratulations to Orange faction, who won the event by achieving the most points. Thank you to all the teachers who also helped on the day. It was a great event.

Dance Lessons

This term, we take part in dancing lessons. We go every Monday and learn new dances. There will be a dance party in Week 10, that parents can attend. That way, you will get to see all our awesome dance moves!

Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons will take place every day, from Monday 5th November until Friday 16th November. Students can wear their swimsuit to school under their school uniform, however, as we do not leave until 11.40am, this may make going to the toilet difficult. Therefore, I recommend that students wear their normal school uniform, and we will give them time to change into their swimming clothes. Recess will be at normal time, 10.30 - 10.50am. We will have a slightly later lunch, as we do not get back to school until 1.20pm. It may be a good idea to pack 2 recess snacks, so that the students are not hungry. Each day, the students will need to bring the following items for swimming, in a bag. Please make sure ALL items are clearly labelled with your child's name, as we end up with a lot of lost property.

Items for swimming:

  • Towel
  • Swimsuit (any style is fine)
  • Goggles
  • Flip flops (to wear to and from the pool)
  • Spare underwear
  • School uniform
  • Shoes and socks

Arts Festival

On Tuesday 23rd October, Wattle Grove held an Arts Festival. This was a fantastic event and it was lovely to see so many Pre Primary students at the Festival. A big congratulations to all the students who performed on the day. A big thank you to all the teachers and the P&C parents that worked so hard to make the event such a success!

World Teacher's Day

Thank you to all the students and parents who took the time to write a message or card on World Teachers Day. Your kind comments meant a lot to us and we really appreciate it. Thank you also to the students who gave us gifts. We felt very special indeed!

Hats

Just a reminder that Wattle Grove Primary School has a ‘no hat, no play’ Policy all year round. All children should have a green, wide brimmed hat. If your child does not have a hat they will be made to sit out. Please make sure your child’s name is on their hat.

Merit Awards

A big congratulations to Anna, Kayla and Vihaan who all received Merit Awards at the Junior Assembly on Friday 26th October.
